On this independence day, reflection causes conflict. This "Great Experiment" was conceived in liberty which apparently no longer exists in this country/society. Since our founders envisioned a free and open society and that most members agreed and wanted to maintain same,the evolution of our society would be incomprehensible to them.It would seem, that power seeking, self aggrandizing, individuals have bastardized the system toward their own ends! Our legislative, judicial, and executive branches no longer exist to serve the populace, but to enhance their own powers and longevity. Sadly, the end result is not a happy thing to contemplate. I am constantly reminded that every "governmental action" is in the "best interests" of the country, while I wonder WHO is making the decisions as to what those best interests are!
All that said, HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA!

Our government leaders today speak as if that which is honest and virtuous can only be chosen by their words at the time.
They work to convince the people that they should pursue that which is most pleasant, easy and self-rewarding than what is just and honourable.
That the safety, health and preservation of this nation if best left in their hands and that courage, dignity and principles are outdated virtues no longer approved of by today's society.
They wish us to believe dependence is far safer, thus better than Independence, Liberty and Freedom.
