On this independence day, reflection causes conflict. This "Great Experiment" was conceived in liberty which apparently no longer exists in this country/society. Since our founders envisioned a free and open society and that most members agreed and wanted to maintain same, the evolution of our society would be incomprehensible to them.It would seem, that power seeking, self aggrandizing, individuals have bastardized the system toward their own ends! Our legislative, judicial, and executive branches no longer exist to serve the populace, but to enhance their own powers and longevity. Sadly, the end result is not a happy thing to contemplate. I am constantly reminded that every "governmental action" is in the "best interests" of the country, while I wonder WHO is making the decisions as to what those best interests are!
All that said, HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA!

Apparently our "esteemed leader" has a very inflated sense of power and a belief system that He is universally (at least republic wide) loved and respected by a majority of his constituants. I would offer this opinion: that there is, in the fairly immediate future, the possibility that His actions will have consequences beyond his wildest imaginings. Further, that an awakening populace will act in unanticipated manners especially when the bite of "big government" becomes personal! I would suggest that our elected representatives should look at history (Rome, and Greece come to mind) and think hard on the ramifications of the fall of our republic. Just sayin

I guess I must weigh in on the presidents executive order. I believe that if the feds attempt to take over nearly everything that there will be a substantial bounce back here in s. arkansas. Apparently the Republic is on its last legs and there MAY be repercussions that were unforseen by  TPTB. While I do NOT endorse armed rebellion, I must say that the RUBICON like  loss of virginity cannot be uncrossed or undone. That said, the governing powers seem to be laboring under the misunderstanding that all is well and that no one is paying attention! I would submit the quote " Oh what tangled webs we weave when first we practice to deceive" sorry cannot give credit due. I h;onestly believe that when our situation becomes intolerable, that there will be multitudes of Honest people who will NOT  accede to despotisim or tyranny. I guess that means "lock and load" and prepare for the worst, while hoping for reson to prevail.
sunday morning; am hoping to begin work after a long hiatus on monday or tuesday. After checking national news, the apparent escalation of rights infringment is scary! while I'm not a doom and gloomer, the governmental trends seem to be accellerating toward blatant subjugation of our population. Sorry I don't have ay answers except that each individual must decide where he or she stands and act accordingly. Hopefully there will be enough people who understand and believe in, a constitutional republic for ours to continue. The struggle is coming and we ALL must make appropriate decisions!GOOD LUCK with yours, I have made mine!

After browsing many thought provoking blogs on GBBL, I have arrived at a question: do the antigunners really believe that lack of self protection implements makes us safer? The answer appears to be yes, and here is my OPINION why. These people (college professors, politicians, and other Liberal leaders) KNOW that they personally do not posess the self control to decide when the use of deadly force is justified! Since they cannot decide and do not have the ability to control their own anger, they must employ rules to prevent ANYONE else from making a decison on their own!"If I can't trust myself with a firearm, noone should be trusted with their own." just sayin III

tuesday,7 feb

I spoke to my new boss yesterday and was assured that when the woods dry out I will have work. Damn looks like rain again. On the project front, seems that illness and the "super bowl" precluded rehearsal. I am somewhat disappointed in SOME of the project members! Oh well! guess it doesn't matter in the scheme of things ongoing. It will work out or it wont.

Merlin's Musings: Girls or Guns - A Top 10 List

Merlin's Musings: Girls or Guns - A Top 10 List

february 3

new job hasnt started yet maybe monday. the music project will be the focus of the weekend. Listened to some of Eric Holder's testimony yesterday and was amazed at the brazen disregard of basic management skills he professes to have used. Simply put, if you are the boss, you had better be aware of your subordinates actions. If you are lax in doing so, you will be held accountable eventually! If you' re complicit in your subordinates actions, you will eventualy be caught out. I personaly believe the stick becomes more crooked as you near the top.  Disgusting!           III

been sick all day. chest congestion and sinus issues. Its raining again. I spent the day playing in the "Blog yard" and reflecting on the "state of the union". I dont have any answers, but the"worry list"seems to be growing exponentially.I keep hearing th "serenity prayer in my head. (GOD grant me the serenity to change the things I can, accept the things I can't, and the wisdom to know the difference) not an exact quote I'm sure but ----------

tuesday 1/24

Fairly productive day; I rehearsed (mentored) Rusty, the drummer for my project. worked bout 3 hrs and he is really trying hard and showing surprising progress given his lack of music education. Talked to Paul, the bass man and he was going home to practice tonight.
On the state of the union,my considered, amateur, opinion of that is 1.  don't need the president to tell me how bad things are with the economy. that is patently obvious. 2. the prez is going to tell me how much better I will be when he fixes things (lie) and 3. How spending money we dont have is a good thing. Finally, the combined chambers of congress will go along with whatever he wants eventually. I see no good end, but will await developements and plan my reactions to them. Sure hope I'm wrong in my assessment but------                                                                                                                  III

referring to challenge: since I took on this challenge, and my day joba has been slack ( I drive a gravel truck) ime and money constraints have severely limited my visits with my "Other Love" ammo aint cheap and since my shooting place happens to be at Ron's farm my "range time" has been severely limited. gonna have to budget some time and show my babies I still love them and punch some paper soon, going into withdrawal.

challenge accepted (dumbass)

Musing: well since I'm not working today guess I'll Play here. Undertook a project a couple of weeks back with a friend and "guitar student". He and I have been working on his skills for about a year and he's made quite a bit of progress as a beginning rythym guitarist. Once a year our small south arkansas town has a "festival" which includes a small carnival, street dance and community socialization. Ron decided we should form a group to perform there.Having been involved with many "groups" over a 4 decade career, I had trepidations.since however, He is a very good friend I said ok.the venue has to platforms, 1 is a gazebo, open to pretty anyone who prearranges a time whil the festival is ongoing and one is the "main" attraction, a four hour street dance. guess which one He committed us to? I won't go in to the debaclethis past weekend with the audition of a drummer just believe it did not go well.this drummer could talk but could NOT even perform basics at all! now have a beginner who will I hope, be able to learn what we need in the 5 month time frame I ha to put this together. Our base player has performed 1 time with me on stage but does a pretty good job. (that is 1 time in his life on stage) Ron never, drummer Rusty never paul bass guitar once. and me. I have been playing professionally since 1964 off and on an teacheng about as long.will update on progress.
